*CANCELLED* 2ND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION

Explore interactions between technology, the environment, economy, society and policy.

IChemE statement:

'In June 2020, we were looking forward to connecting with speakers and delegates at our second International Conference on Sustainable Production and Consumption in Edinburgh, and to sharing some of the high-quality papers which had been submitted by academics, researchers and students.

However, in light of the worldwide coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, travel restrictions, and the logistical difficulties of running a conference at this time, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year's event.

We appreciate that this will be disappointing to everyone who took the time to submit an abstract. We hope to be able to bring you news about when and where the next conference will take place in due course.'

To foster the multidisciplinary interactions needed to address the challenges of sustainable production and consumption, papers are invited from engineers, natural and social scientists, as well as from the humanities. Contributions at the interface of these disciplines are particularly encouraged.

As in 2018, attendees will have a unique opportunity to share and develop their knowledge of sustainable production and consumption methods, make useful contacts, meet other professionals in the field and foster new collaborations.

THINK AND DO DIFFERENTLY - INTRODUCTION TO DESIGN THINKING BY BOUTIQUE INNOVATION

This webinar is an introduction to 'human centred' aspects of product, service and even operational design.

Many of us working in technology led businesses are naturally biased towards seeking out and designing solutions for technical challenges. However, it’s equally important to consider the ‘human centred’ aspect of design, addressing the customer problem to be solved with a strong sense of empathy. In the current challenging environment, companies driven by this genuine sense of empathy combined with an inquisitive nature, are using this unique opportunity to strengthen relationships externally with clients, suppliers, customers and end-users.

Elaine Baxter is Director of Boutique Innovation.  She helps teams create new products, services, propositions, processes and even new organisational designs.  Utilitising a series of innovation acceleration and user centred design methods along with in-depth industry experience and insight, Boutique Innovation helps teams to think and work differently.

This webinar will be an informal introduction by Elaine with opportunity for discussion and questions.  Hear more about Elaine's industry experience and some case studies of previous programs she has completed with clients.
