Circular Economy in the Water Sector Crucible from Hydro Nation Chair & IBioIC

The Crucible on the Circular Economy in the Water Sector will be held on Wednesday 30 October at the Technology and Innovation Centre, University of Strathclyde, in central Glasgow.

Guests will come together to find connections and synergies and form consortia to deliver solutions to the challenge posed at the beginning of the event. In association with the Crucible series, mechanisms to progress project ideas that are generated by the crucible discussions will be made available.

Programme 

In advance of attending, we ask that attendees please watch the Webinar at which will set the scene of Circular Economy in the water sector. 

09.00 – 09.30 Registration, please join us for refreshments and networking  

09.30 – 10.00 Welcome & Context Setting – Circular Economy (CE) approaches to drive net zero in the water sector  

Opening Remarks from Prof Andrew Tyler, Hydro Nation Chair

10.00 –10.15 Session 1: What are we already doing in this space?  

A group ice breaker to explore existing CE approaches utilised by attendees 

10.15 -10.45 Session 2: What are the barriers to embracing the CE? 

In breakout groups (see name badge), please consider the mitigations and specific barriers to the translation of the approaches to the water sector 

We ask that you use a mechanism to highlight the main, or yet-to-be identified, barriers in your feedback.  

10.45 -11.00 Feedback from Session 2 to wider plenary – these will be captured on a flipchart 

11.00 -12.00 Session 3: What opportunities exist to embrace CE approaches?  

In breakout groups (see name badge) please also consider the gaps and specific translation of CE approaches to the Water Sector.  

We ask that you use a mechanism to highlight the main, or yet-to-be identified, barriers in your feedback.

12.00 - 12.30 Feedback from Session 3 to wider plenary – these will be captured on a flipchart 

12.30 – 13.15 Lunch break and time for networking in the mezzanine  

13.15 – 13.45 Summary of emerging themes Led by Dr Liz Fletcher, IBioIC & Dr Ania Escudero, Glasgow Caledonian University/HNC  

We will agree the themes to take forward in afternoon sessions and establish the collaborative working groups. We will also cover mechanisms for supporting ideas going forward by introducing the Catalyst Fund. 

13.45 - 15.15 Collaborative group working:  

Using the pitch template provided, please use this space to develop the ideas that have formed over the Crucible so far.
